Brisbania P&C

Welcome!

At Brisbania Parents & Citizens Committee we’re a group of passionate parents, carers, and community members working together to support our school and create the best possible environment for our children. Through fundraising, volunteering, and organising fun events, we help provide extra resources, programs, and experiences that make a real difference to our students.

Whether you want to get involved, stay up to date with what’s happening at the school, or simply connect with other families, our P&C is here to make school life even better, for kids, families, and the wider community.

Join us and be part of something special!

What we do

Fundraising

Our fundraising efforts rely entirely on the dedication of P&C volunteers. From sausage sizzles and raffles to events, every activity helps provide essential resources, facilities, and memorable experiences for our children. Without our volunteers, these opportunities wouldn’t be possible.

Canteen

Our school canteen is professionally managed and fully accredited with the NSW Healthy Canteen Association. While the canteen is run by experienced managers, it relies on the support of P&C volunteers to keep everything running smoothly.

Bistro Bania is open Wednesday to Friday.

Uniform Shop

Wearing a school uniform helps every child feel included and part of the school community. Our uniform shop is open Friday mornings and is run entirely by P&C volunteers, keeping prices affordable and accessible for all families.

 FAQs

  • Brisbania P&C (Parents and Citizens Association) is volunteer group of parents and citizens who play an important role in our school community.

Many of you may interacted with the P&C through sausage sizzles and fundraising events but they are also responsible for the of running essential school services like canteen, uniform shops and soon to also include before & after school care.

P&C Associations represent parents and empower them to have a voice in decisions that affect students’ learning, wellbeing, and school culture.

Whether you’d like to take on a role, join a fundraising group, or just come along to a meeting to listen and learn, your presence makes a difference.

  • Our P&C is made up of a dedicated team of parents and community members working together to support our school.

    Office bearers/ Executive roles:

    • President: Shane Murray

    • Treasurer: Michelle Tarr

    Other executive committee members:

    • Vice President: Keeleigh Davison

    • Secretary: Aimee Hammett

All executive roles will be open for nomination at our AGM on 1 December 2025, giving you the chance to get involved.

    • Canteen Managers: Paula and Rose

    • Uniform Shop Coordinator (temporary): Jo

We also have regular committee members who attend meetings and volunteers who help run events and school activities.

Whether you join the committee, volunteer occasionally, or simply attend a meeting, everyone’s contribution helps make a difference for our school and community.

  • Brisbania P&C plays a key role in bringing the school and community into close collaboration.

Through a range of activities, meetings, and events the P&C is working to enrich and to unite around the shared goal of enhancing public education. We meet 1-2 times per term and our AGM is in Term 4.

    Common P&C activities include

    • Regular meetings with office bearers, members, school staff and principal

    • School-improvement projects

    • Community events

    • Running essential school services

    • Fundraising

    • Celebrating key days and events

    • Community support initiatives

    • Representing and advocating for the school community

    • Working with school leaders on matters related to public education

  • Joining the P&C is as flexible as you need it to be - and the more people we have involved, the smaller the individual time commitment becomes.

Our regular meetings run for 1–2 hours, twice a term, and you’re welcome to attend in person or online and there’s no requirement to attend every meeting, take on a role or volunteer at every event.

Some activities do require more coordination - especially events. Ideally, we’d have different people helping with things like:

    • Contacting donors

    • Organising stock and suppliers

    • Coordinating volunteers

    • Managing logistics on the day

When these tasks are shared across more helpers, it becomes far easier (and far more enjoyable!) for everyone.

Whether you can give a little time or a lot, your support genuinely helps our school and our kids - and every bit makes a big difference.

    1. Come to a meeting
You don’t need to speak or volunteer for anything - just come along, listen, and get a feel for what we do. We meet 2 times per term on the Monday of week 4 and 8 at 6pm in the school staff room. Meeting details are promoted via our Facebook page, via our WhatsApp and can also be found on School Bytes calendar.

    2. Volunteer your time (even occasionally!)

We promote volunteer opportunities at our meetings, via our WhatsApp community and via our Facebook (give us a follow!).

You can help at fundraising events, you can help with preparation before events. Many roles are small and flexible - even one hour here or there makes a difference and helping out is a great way to meet fellow members.

    3. Join a WhatsApp community working group.

If you can’t commit to meetings, you can still join a specific area like fundraising, events, uniform shop or canteen. These groups communicate via WhatsApp Community so you can opt in and out at a time that suits you.

    4. Reach out anytime

Email us at info@brisbaniapandc.org or join our community WhatsApp group if you want to help, have a question, or simply want to stay in the loop.

No matter how big or small your contribution, your involvement helps strengthen our school community and supports experiences our kids will remember.

  • Becoming a Brisbania P&C member costs just $2 per year.

This small annual fee helps us maintain an official membership register and ensures members can vote on decisions, nominate for roles, and take part in shaping the direction of the P&C.

There are no additional costs or ongoing commitments — and you can get involved as much or as little as you like.

  • BBASVCC = Brisbania before and after school and vacation care centre)

In NSW, all volunteer-led before and after school and vacation care programs must transition to either P&C Management or private tender. This directive is from Government Dept. of Education driven by increasing regulations, staffing challenges, and the rising demand for high-quality, consistent care across the state.

This left two potential pathways for the future of BBASVCC:

    1. Transitioning to P&C Management.

    2. Tendering to a Private Provider.

See cheat sheet developed at the time of voting with the aim of providing more clarity to the community on the why, the process and the pro’s and con’s.

Back in May 2024 the P&C voted to transition the OOSH to a P&C function rather than put the centre out to private tender.

At the moment, the same executive committee manages both the P&C and BBASVCC, as well as all fundraising and school coordination. This short-term arrangement was put in place to streamline and support the successful transition of BBASVCC under P&C management.

With this transition now underway, it’s clear that the way we operate in the future needs to evolve.

To keep things sustainable, and to make sure school events and fundraising remain regular, well-run, and enjoyable for everyone, we’re inviting more parents and carers to get involved. By sharing the organisation of events and activities across a larger group, no one person has to take on too much, and together we can create even more opportunities for our kids and school community.
